History
Mount Pisgah, Polk County was established as an AVA in 2022, west of Salem, named for the prominent ridge that rises above the southern Willamette Valley. It is one of the smallest and newest of the Willamette sub-AVAs. Its marine sedimentary soils, weathered from ancient seabed sandstone, and its cool, rain-shadowed microclimate produce Pinot Noir of bright acidity and floral perfume — a delicate register distinct from the darker, more robust wines of the northern sub-AVAs [1].
