History

Ribbon Ridge was established as an AVA in 2004 — Oregon's smallest appellation, a tiny, isolated ridge of marine sedimentary hills northwest of Dundee. The ridge's sheltered position creates a slightly warmer microclimate than its surroundings, allowing even, complete ripening of Pinot Noir. First planted by Harry Peterson-Nedry in 1980, Ribbon Ridge's finely textured sedimentary soils produce Pinot Noir of remarkable delicacy, perfume, and silky tannin — among the most elegant expressions in the Willamette ^[1].
