History
Yountville became an AVA in 2023, among the most recent additions to Napa's nested appellations, formalizing the terroir around the town founded by George C. Yount — the first American settler to plant a vineyard in Napa Valley, in 1839. The district sits between Oakville and the Oak Knoll District, its alluvial benchland producing Cabernet Sauvignon of finesse and balance — more aromatic and supple than the structured wines of Oakville to the north [1].
