History

Coombsville became an AVA in 2012, the newest nested sub-AVA of Napa Valley, formalizing the cool eastern edge of the valley near the town of Napa. Its proximity to San Pablo Bay brings persistent morning fog and a long, moderate growing season. The volcanic ash and alluvial soils, weathered from the Vaca Range, produce Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon of softer tannin, generous texture, and refined structure — among the most elegant reds in Napa ^[1].
